Joanna Norris

Chief Executive, ChristchurchNZ

Joanna Norris is a women of bold ambition, and lucky for us she’s now channelling that energy into shaping the future of Ōtautahi Christchurch. As Chief Executive of Christchurch NZ, Joanna is tasked with growing the reputation of our city as a vibrant and progressive place to live, work, and visit.

Joanna has a background in journalism, with past roles including South Island editor-in-chief for Fairfax Media and editor of The Press, where she led a team of 180 journalists. She has won several journalism and leadership awards, including media awards for reporting and feature writing. She was also chair of the New Zealand Media Freedom Committee and was last year awarded the Fairfax Media Women of Influence Award as Change and Innovation Champion. In other words, we’re lucky to have her.
