Growing up in Wellington, Mike Brown quickly developed a passion for the outdoors – spending his days surfing, skiing and mountaineering. However, a twist of fate in 2012 saw Mike dramatically change his lifestyle, when after a serious accident he found himself paralysed from the waist down.

Although it’s been a recovery journey rife with challenges, Mike has ultimately channelled his adventurous spirit into creating life-changing products for those in need. With his media and product development company, adaptdefy, Mike is on a mission to to support paraplegics to live independent, rich and active lives.

Central to his vision is a sense of community. ‘The more common this becomes, the less special someone in a wheelchair doing something active will become. I want these people to live with as little limitation as possible.’
